The PSC is hosting UGA’s LGBT Resource Center as they conduct a Safe Space Training, and you’re invited! We wanted to provide religious leaders on campus and around Athens with the opportunity to benefit from this incredible resource, which endeavors to help communities become more hospitable for members of the LGBTQAI+ community.
Please RSVP on our Facebook Event … if you do not have facebook, email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you’re coming. Lunch will be served!
Our first meeting we’ll introduce ourselves, tell some of our personal stories of being faithfully LGBTQAI+, and examine a few passages from the Hebrew scriptures (Jewish Bible, Christian First Testament), which are often referenced in modern-day conversations on the intersection of religious faith, sexuality and gender identity. Join us for coffee, community, conversation, and of course, queeries!

The 2019 College Conference at Montreat will respond to God’s call for compassion in a broken world. As a community of faith we will discern God’s compassionate nature and how God is calling us to act with compassion in our communities, campuses, churches, and families. We will learn from faith leaders and organizations who are living lives of compassion, working towards justice and peace in their communities. Father Gregory Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, writes: “Compassion isn’t just about feeling the pain of others; it’s about bringing them in toward yourself. If we love what God loves, then, in compassion, margins get erased. ‘Be compassionate as God is compassionate,’ means the dismantling of barriers that exclude.” Join us as we create a community of compassion through worship, play, study, and fellowship and consider how God is calling us to dismantle barriers, comfort those in trouble, and to live lives of compassion.

Need a break during finals week? The PSC has got you covered! We’ll be hosting events and snacks all week at 1250 S. Lumpkin, from 8-10PM. Drop in, stay for the whole time, or just plan to do your studying at the PSC. The building is open to students 24/7 during finals week.
Ahh… Fall in the North Georgia mountains! With great thanks to Ron and Carol Johnson for the use of their river-front cabin, the PSC will take a break from the demands of school for the weekend of Nov. 2-4. All PSC students are invited to come and to bring friends. There’s no registration fee, but drivers will work out gas money with their own cars, and we’ll socialize the cost of groceries, with financial assistance provided as needed. Join us for a weekend of community, reflection, prayer, hiking, reading, apple picking, good food, beautiful scenery, and just about whatever else you need.
